After breakfast in the apartment, we slowly walked towards the Acropolis area to visit the Unesco site, Acropolis of Athens. Entrance fee of the site was 10 euros ( Low season ) and is good for the other sites in the area including the ancient agora, theatre of Dionysos, Kerameikos, Roman Agora, Tower of the Winds and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. After spending about 2 hours here we headed to the restaurant and bar area below the Acropolis and had late lunch here. After that we spend some time walking and shopping around Athinas Street. |

Took a morning flight from Athens to Santorini, arriving around 11am and picked up our two rental cars here. We booked a 7-seater for SGD246 and a normal sedan for SGD192 for 2 nights. After picking up our car, we drove towards our AirBnb apartment near Oia town. We rented a cave house for SGD835 for two nights, which is located only 5 mins drive from the Oia town. After settling down in our apartment, we drove to Oia town for photos and visited the famous white houses with blue roofs. |

After collecting our cars, we had pizza lunch nearby before our long drive to Meteora (5-6 hours). We stayed in Archontiko Mesohori Suites & Apartment in Meteora, a very nice and cosy hotel which we recommend to stay to explore Meteora. Paid about SGD1,338 for 5 rooms for 2 night stay, inclusive of breakfast. |
Day 6 - Meteora
Lionel, Patrick, and Jon woke up early for the sunrise in Meteora. Our hotel have a great view of the surrounding mountains and a short walk will also have a view of the town. It’s a full day visiting monasteries in Meteora, most of them at located at the top of the hills with amazing views. We only paid the entrance fees for two of them (Holy Trinity Monastery & Varlaam Monastery), while taking photos of the rest from outside. Also went to two lookout points for some great photos of the monasteries with the town and snow cap mountains as backdrop. I think Meteora, an Unesco site in Greece, should not be missed while in Greece. |
Day 7 - Meteora - Delphi - Zakynthos
Checked out of hotel in the morning and drove about 3.5-4 hours to Delphi to visit the ruins here. This is another Unesco site in Greece, and entrance fee is 12 euro per person (inclusive of the visit to the museum). We spend about 1-2 hours here before having a late lunch in the town. Day 8 - Zakynthos
Drove to town for breakfast and experienced mild earthquake in the cafe (Tzante Coffee Shop). According to the owner of the cafe, it is common to experience earthquake in Zakynthos. After breakfast, our first stop was Korakonissi, a nice rock formation with nice sea view (almost an hour drive even though it’s only 26km from the town due to winding roads. Next stop was the shipwreck viewpoint, about an hour drive from Korakonissi. Fantastic view of the shipwreck from above as well as the blue sea colours. After some photos, we drove to the nearby town for lunch before driving back to the shipwreck viewpoint for sunset. From the carpark, walked right towards (with the car facing the sea) towards the cliff and you can have a better view of the shipwreck cove. |
