HONG KONG
We flew SQ from Singapore and landed in HK in the evening. Took the MTR Airport Express (there's 3 of us, and we managed to get another tourist to join us and bought the single trip train tickets to Kowloon at HK$250 for group of four; HK$90 if traveling alone), and the train ride excluding waiting time is about 21 mins. Upon arriving at the Kowloon train station, we walked to the complementary shuttle bus services and took the bus to our Royal Plaza Hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Kowloon, surrounded by several unique tourist attractions, including Flower Market, Goldfish Market, Ladies' Market, Fa Yuen Street and Bird Garden. MOKO, the largest shopping mall in Mongkok is also connected to the hotel. We had our dinner near the hotel and call it a day. Royal Plaza Hotel (HK$1,063 a night) |

This morning, we explored the attractions around our hotel. Our first stop is Fa Yuen Street, where over one hundred stalls and shops on both sides of the street, selling a tremendous variety of inexpensive fashion items, accessories and toys. Its is only 8-10 mins walk from our hotel. We had bo lo bao (pineapple bun) for breakfast at Kam Wah Cafe 金華冰廳, which is rated as one of the cafe that serves best bo lo bao. After that, we spend time shopping around Fa Yuen Street, Goldfish Market. We had tim sum lunch at Lei Garden, which is just a short walk from Fa Yuen Street. In the evening, we took a cab to Ladies' Market, a place to find inexpensive women's clothes, ranging from lingerie to shoes. After that, we took a cab and headed to Hong Kong, Fo Tan, 火炭山尾街東熟食市場 to have our late dinner at 津津食家 before going back to hotel for the day. |

HONG KONG > SAI KUNG > HONG KONG
Our destination for today is Sai Kung District. Sai Kung is known as ‘Hong Kong’s back garden’ because of the beautiful hiking trails and beaches in this area. The village of Sai Kung is also noted locally for its seafood restaurants, many of which congregate on the seafront, known as ‘Seafood Street’. We took the MTR to Hang Hau Station, and then the minibus route 101M to arrive at the village of Sai Kung. We spend the whole day here, having tea break and shopping around before ending with dinner. There's two Michelin star seafood restaurants here in Sai Kung, Sing Kee Seafood Restaurants (勝記海鮮酒家) and LOAF ON (六福菜館). We had our dinner at the latter restaurant. After dinner, we had dessert nearby and took a cab back to the hotel after that. |
